Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed saw one positive from his side’s washout against Sri Lanka on Friday, which was that they received a point.
Persistent rain led to Pakistan and Sri Lanka’s World Cup clash being abandoned without a single ball bowled.
Pakistan went into the match on a high as they defeated hosts England, who are considered one of the favourites to win the World Cup, by 14 runs in Nottingham on Monday.
However, Sri Lanka were also full of confidence coming into the game as they beat Afghanistan by 34 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method in their last match.
“We really wanted to play the match today but unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this but we will take positives out of this which is that we have one point,” Sarfraz was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against Australia in Taunton on Wednesday.
