Pakistan and Sri Lanka received one point each after their World Cup clash in Bristol was washed out due to persistent rain.
Not even a toss was possible as the rain refused to relent right from the get-go.
However, at about 2pm local time, it finally stopped raining, but since the conditions were deemed to be inadequate, the umpires had no choice but to call off the match.
Pakistan were coming into the match on a high as they defeated hosts England, who are considered one of the favourites to win the World Cup, by 14 runs in Nottingham on Monday.
However, Sri Lanka were also coming into the game on a high as they beat Afghanistan by 34 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method in their last match.
Pakistan’s next match will be against Australia in Taunton on Wednesday, while Sri Lanka will take on Bangladesh in Bristol on Tuesday.
