Jamaica Tallawahs openers Chadwick Walton and Chris Gayle scored 76 and 64 not out respectively to lead their side to a convincing nine-wicket win over the St Lucia Zouks.

Gayle would have been pleased with his decision to bowl first as all the Zouks batsmen, with the exception of Kevin Pietersen, failed to have an impact.

It was thanks to Pietersen’s unbeaten knock of 83, which came off 57 balls and included six boundaries and four sixes, that the Zouks were able to finish on 158/4 off their 20 overs.

Chasing 159 to win, the Tallawahs got off to a superb start as Walton and Gayle amassed a 119-run partnership, during which Walton brought up his half-century, before he was caught by Kemar Roach at mid-on off the bowling of Fidel Edwards.

Walton’s excellent innings of 76 came off 48 balls and included nine boundaries and three sixes.

Gayle and Chris Lynn finished things off with an unbeaten 40-run partnership, during which Gayle registered his half-century.

Gayle ended up making 64 off 42 deliveries, which included three boundaries and five sixes, while Lynn remained undefeated on eight off eight balls, which included a six.
