Jamaica Tallawahs captain Chris Gayle and batsman Chris Lynn both scored half-centuries to lead their side to a comfortable seven-wicket win over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Even though Gayle and Lynn stole most of the spotlight, Patriots opener Martin Guptill and skipper Marlon Samuels both deserve a lot of credit as they made 53 and 50 respectively.
Guptill and Samuels were the main reason why the Patriots were able to reach 160/5 off their 20 overs as all the other batsmen, with the exception of Tonito Willett who scored 31, failed to have an impact with the bat.
Guptill smashed 53 off 49 balls, which included three boundaries and two sixes, while Samuels hammered 50 off 31 deliveries, which included four boundaries and two sixes.
Krishmar Santokie was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Daniel Vettori chipped in with one.
Chasing 161 to win, the Tallawahs got off to a poor start as they lost Chadwick Walton for 10 runs.
However, Gayle and Lynn made up for the early loss of Walton with an 85-run partnership, during which Lynn brought up his half-century, before he was clean bowled by Carlos Brathwaite.
Lynn’s superb knock of 52 came off 33 balls and included three boundaries and four sixes.

Despite losing Mahela Jayawardene soon after for just three runs, Gayle and Andre Russell finished things off with an unbeaten 50-run stand, during which Gayle surpassed his half-century.
Gayle ended up finishing of 72 off 54 balls, which included six boundaries and two sixes, while Russell remained undefeated on 21 off 14 deliveries, which included two boundaries and a six.
Brathwaite, Sheldon Cottrell and Sohail Tanvir claimed one wicket each.
Gayle was named Man of the Match.
