Pakistan pace bowler Hasan Ali has confirmed that he was informed he wouldn’t play in the 2024 T20 World Cup as he was in the national team prior to the tournament as a back-up for Haris Rauf.

Pakistan white-ball captain Babar Azam has defended the selection of fast bowler Hasan Ali, saying “there are seven selectors who selected him”.

Wahab Riaz: “He is a back-up of Haris Rauf and we have told that to Hasan Ali. If Haris gets fit before [the] England series, [then] he will be our first choice. If we feel Haris Rauf is not match fit then Hasan Ali will replace him”
