Pakistan fast bowler Khurram Shahzad said he always aims to take wickets with the new ball.
Shahzad’s comments come after he had a stellar campaign in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he represented the Quetta Gladiators.
In the eight matches he played, the 25-year-old took 12 wickets at an average of 19.50 and an economy rate of 8.06.
“I always aim to take wickets in the powerplay with the new ball,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
After the completion of PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, which they won 3-0. However, Shahzad was not included in the team.
He also didn’t feature in Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh, where the men in green lost the T20I series 2-1.
Instead, Shahzad has been playing county cricket for Worcestershire, first in the Vitality Blast and now in the County Championship, where he began with a six-wicket haul in their ongoing match against Warwickshire.
