Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop wants Pakistan to “stick with” seamer Mohammad Wasim Jnr going forward as he sees plenty of talent in the 22-year-old.
Bishop noted he has been a longtime fan of the 140 kph youngster and especially loves “his ability to get those yorkers in.”
Wasim Jnr has been sporadically used by Pakistan over the past couple of years, but Bishop feels that the North Waziristan native deserves more opportunities as he keeps showing how good he is whenever he gets the chance to play.
“I’ve [long liked] Mohammad Wasim. I’ve long liked his ability to get those yorkers in. I’ve said it before, I hope Pakistan stick with him as a bowler through what will be rough periods ahead,” he was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Wasim recently played in Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand and took one wicket in two games at an average of 59 and an economy rate of 8.42.
He is now representing the Quetta Gladiators in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has claimed six wickets in five matches at an average of 33 and an economy rate of 9.90.
