Legendary Pakistan six-hitter Shahid Afridi has warned the national selectors and team management not to sideline fast bowler Haris Rauf completely as he believes it would be a big mistake.
Rauf hasn’t been in the best form lately as he has struggled to take wickets and has been conceding a lot of runs.
Instead of criticising the 30-year-old, Afridi wants the senior players in the Pakistan set-up to give him some guidance.
“He needs honest help at this moment, the guidance of seniors is necessary because we shouldn’t sideline him completely,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Rauf recently played for Pakistan in their five-match T20I series against New Zealand and took seven wickets in four games at an average of 23 and an economy rate of 10.61.
He then played for the Lahore Qalandars in the ongoing 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), but his campaign only lasted four games before he was ruled out for the remainder of the tournament after dislocating his shoulder. It is understood that he will need four to six weeks to make a full recovery.
In those four matches, Rauf claimed two wickets at an average of 66 and an economy rate of 9.42.
