Pakistan batsman Shan Masood has made it clear that he hasn’t heard anything or spoken to anyone about becoming the country’s Test captain.
According to media reports, Masood is considered to be one of the frontrunners to replace Sarfraz Ahmed as captain in the longest format.
There has been a lot of speculation over whether Sarfraz will continue on as captain, especially after the men in green narrowly missed out on qualifying for the World Cup semi-finals.
Some reports indicate that he will be stripped of the captaincy completely, while others state that he will lead Pakistan in fewer formats.
However, Masood insisted that he hasn’t heard anything to suggest the media reports are correct.
“This is limited to media speculation, I haven’t heard anything about it nor have I spoken to anyone,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “I am available for Pakistan in any capacity but my first priority is as a player. Since there has been nothing official yet, I will not comment on this.
“At this moment, I am focused on the Pakistan team as a contracted player and my job is to perform as well as I can for Pakistan.”
