Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja believes that batsman Sharjeel Khan should never be allowed to play for the national team again.
Ramiz’s comments come after there has been speculation that Sharjeel could play for Pakistan again after his five-year ban concludes.
However, Sharjeel will be allowed to return this month as two-and-a-half years of his ban was suspended.
However, Ramiz reiterated that he doesn’t want to see Sharjeel playing international cricket for Pakistan ever again.
“I am really disappointed because have we not found any batsmen in the past two, three years, [and] we are bound to approach such characters [Sharjeel Khan] that tainted Pakistan cricket,” Ramiz was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder.
“How can society tolerate such a debate? These men don’t even learn from their mistakes and there is a trail of such absurdities giving a bad name to Pakistan. We should have zero tolerance on these things, and we [will] get the talent. In a year or so, our opening [pair] that is already doing well [will] get better.”
