Umar Akmal was allegedly approached by a former Pakistan player to fix matches during the Global T20 Canada.
According to The Nation, Mansoor Akhtar, who represented Pakistan in 19 Tests and 41 ODIs, asked Akmal to partake in fixing activities during the tournament.
Akhtar is an official for the Winnipeg Hawks, who won the tournament, while Akmal played for the team.
Akmal is understood to have reported the approach from Akhtar to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and tournament’s administrators.
This led to anti-corruption officials at the tournament instructing players to report any other approaches immediately.
Akhtar currently lives in the United States and has allegedly not been seen since it became public knowledge that he allegedly asked Akmal to fix matches.
