Legendary left-arm seamer Wasim Akram believes Shaheen Shah Afridi should replace Hasan Ali in Pakistan’s World Cup squad.
Hasan went wicketless in Pakistan’s two World Cup games against the West Indies and England, while the men in green’s third match against Sri Lanka was washed out.
In addition to not taking wickets, Hasan has been very expensive as he conceded 39 runs off four overs against the West Indies and 66 runs in his 10 overs against England.
As for Afridi, he has yet to make his World Cup debut.
However, given Hasan’s struggles, Akram feels that Afridi should be given a chance to prove his worth and make his presence felt.
“If Shaheen had to be included then he should have played in the first game,” Akram told Geo.tv. “I would have gone with him in place of Hasan. We need a wicket-taking bowler [with] the new ball.”
Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against Australia in Taunton on Wednesday.
