Legendary Pakistan left-arm seamer Wasim Akram has revealed that opener Fakhar Zaman has to change his approach to batting as he has now become a senior player in the side.

Akram noted that Zaman has to get Pakistan off to good starts and in order to do that, he has to play “according to the situation”.

Zaman has failed to have a major impact in Pakistan’s World Cup matches thus far as he scored 22 against the West Indies and 36 against England.

Pakistan’s third match against Sri Lanka was washed out.

“Fakhar is now a senior player and he must change his game according to the situation,” Akram told Geo.tv. “You can’t hit every [bowler] coming forward. Everyone has seen how he can be captured. If the ball is coming then it’s okay, but don’t hit blindly.”

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against Australia in Taunton on Wednesday.
