England head coach Trevor Bayliss has confirmed that Moeen Ali will be given another chance to open the batting even though he has struggled to score runs in the ongoing series against Pakistan.

Ali, who was dismissed for one in both innings of the second Test in Dubai, has only managed to score 48 runs at a dreary average of 12.

However, Bayliss has refused to give up on the 28-year-old and is confident that he will bounce back in the third Test in Sharjah.

“The opening batting position has not been a success as of yet. Personally, I would probably like to give Mo another opportunity,” he told Sky Sports. “He is a quality player and is in a position that he is a little unfamiliar with, but he is a guy that wants to do it. For me, somebody that wants to go out there and do it, that’s a guy you want in your team.”

Pakistan hold a 1-0 lead heading into the third Test after they won the second Test by 178 runs.
