Australia spinner Nathan Lyon has praised legendary Pakistan batsman Younis Khan, saying he “was an incredible player of spin bowling”.
Misbah-ul-Haq: “Our batters can’t play quality spin bowling, they lack the skills to do it. They have no release shot, can’t read the hand, no sweeps and can’t even rotate strike”

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has conceded that the current batsmen are unable to “play quality spin bowling” as “they lack the skills to do it.”

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has hailed legendary Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad, saying he was a great player and competitor who possessed incredible “skill and ferocity”.
Adil Rashid: “Another player that I feel was like this, Younis Khan. I came back in the 2015 Test series and Younis would do exactly… that as well, sweeps, cuts, reverse sweeps. That was probably the toughest series I bowled in”

England spinner Adil Rashid has admitted that he found it very difficult to bowl to legendary Pakistan batsman Younis Khan.

England spin-bowling all-rounder Moeen Ali has admitted that former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq was one batsman who really made him feel pressure when bowling.
Cheteshwar Pujara: “Babar’s footwork against the spinner was not good. He was not using his feet. He didn’t [try] to play any sweep shot or a paddle sweep. Nowadays, reverse sweep is also an option to disturb the length of a spinner”

Senior India cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara has highlighted Pakistan batsman Babar Azam’s poor footwork against spinners.
Mohammad Suleman: “I follow Babar Azam a lot. I observe how he builds innings. I love his cover drives and Younis Khan’s sweeps. I used to watch Younis in the early days”

Up-and-coming Pakistan middle order batsman Mohammad Suleman said he follows Babar Azam and Younis Khan.
Nasser Hussain: “Pakistan players generally love the sweep shot, he’s got that in his locker. He used his feet as well. He’s got a bit of Steve Smith about him when he defends the ball and charges. He’s got a bit of swagger about him”

Former England captain Nasser Hussain sees some similarities between Pakistan middle order batsman Kamran Ghulam and Australia superstar Steve Smith.
Ramiz Raja: “Either he has to play reverse sweep, sweep shot or switch hit against spin or he has to use his footwork and dominate the spinners because that domination factor ends as soon as a spinner comes [on to bowl]. So, Babar needs to work a lot on this area”

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja said limited overs captain Babar Azam “needs to work a lot” on his batting against spin as he has a noticeable weakness against such bowling.
Rashid Khan: “Younis Khan is someone who played the sweep shot better than anybody else. I learn by watching his YouTube videos and observing him play the sweep shot”
