Adil Rashid: “Another player that I feel was like this, Younis Khan. I came back in the 2015 Test series and Younis would do exactly… that as well, sweeps, cuts, reverse sweeps. That was probably the toughest series I bowled in”

England spinner Adil Rashid has admitted that he found it very difficult to bowl to legendary Pakistan batsman Younis Khan.
Younis is one of Pakistan’s greatest-ever batters as he is the only cricketer from the country to have scored 10,000 Test runs.
Rashid noted that the 47-year-old had all the shots in his arsenal, which made it extremely tough to get him out.
Younis represented Pakistan in 118 Tests and amassed 10,099 runs, which included 34 centuries and 33 fifties, at an average of 52.05.
He also played 265 ODIs and made 7,249 runs, which included seven hundreds and 48 half-centuries, at an average of 31.24.
As for his T20I career, the Mardan native ended up with 442 runs in 25 matches, which included two fifties, at an average of 22.10.
“Another player that I feel was like this, Younis Khan. I came back in the 2015 Test series and Younis would do exactly… that as well, sweeps, cuts, reverse sweeps. That was probably the toughest series I bowled in. At that age, both of them (Younis and Misbah-ul-Haq) were great against spin in their conditions, they used to bang it,” Rashid said on the Beard Before Wicket podcast as quoted by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team recently faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series in Lahore, which they won 3-0.
They then travelled to Bangladesh for another T20I series, but lost 2-1.
After back-to-back series against Bangladesh, the men in green toured the West Indies and came away with mixed results as they won the T20I series 2-1, but lost the ODIs 2-1.
Following the West Indies tour, the men in green went up against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which they won.
Pakistan are now playing in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is taking place in the UAE.
In the group stage, they beat Oman and the UAE, but lost to India.
Having advanced to the Super Four, Pakistan got off to a rough start as India thumped them by six wickets.
The men in green will look to get back to winning ways when they take on Sri Lanka on September 23 in Abu Dhabi.
