Legendary cricketer Mohammad Yousuf said Babar Azam is “the biggest batter of Pakistan”, but stressed that he needs to be more aggressive when at the crease.

Yousuf noted that Azam needs to up his strike-rate, especially in T20Is, where it should be around 170 to 190.

“I believe that Babar Azam is the biggest batter of Pakistan, he should lead the team from front, not other way around. In league cricket, performance is not that crucial, he should play with [a] 170 to 190 strike-rate in international cricket, so it will be greatly beneficial for Pakistan,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Ahmad Haseeb on Facebook.

Azam was recently in action in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and England, where he amassed 118 runs in five matches at an average of 23.60.

He will now captain Pakistan in their two-Test series against Sri Lanka, which will be held from November 9 to 21.

Pakistan will add two pacers to their side before the series begins.
