Turns it sharply in both directions, Mark Butcher thinks Pakistan spinner is one to watch out for

Mark Butcher said Pakistan spinner Sufyan Moqim turns the ball sharply in both directions

Mark Butcher: “He look really, really good. A lot of control, quick through the air, turns it pretty sharply, I think, in both directions. Nobody seems to have been able to pick him as yet, so he’s definitely a name to watch out for in the future”

Former England batsman Mark Butcher believes Pakistan left-arm spinner Sufyan Moqim is a player “to watch out for in the future” as he can turn the ball sharply both ways.

Moqim has been in excellent form in T20 cricket this year as he was the highest wicket-taker in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with 22 wickets in 11 matches for the Peshawar Zalmi at an average of 14.40 and an economy rate of 7.20.

He also featured in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and finished with 12 wickets in six games for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons at an average of nine and an economy rate of six.

“He look really, really good. A lot of control, quick through the air, turns it pretty sharply, I think, in both directions. Nobody seems to have been able to pick him as yet, so he’s definitely a name to watch out for in the future,” Butcher told PakPassion.

Moqim recently took part in Pakistan’s T20I series against Sri Lanka, but went wicketless in the one match he played.

After that, the men in green won their ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and England, but Moqim was not included in the playing XI for any of the matches.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a two-Test series against Sri Lanka, which will be played from November 9 to 21.

Two fast bowlers will be drafted into the side after the three-day warm-up match between PCB Patron’s and Sri Lanka from November 4 to 6.

Pakistan Squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka: Babar Azam (captain), Abdullah Fazal, Ali Usman, Arafat Minhas, Azan Awais, Mohammad Abbas, Ghazi Ghori (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Suleman, Mohammad Taha, Razaullah, Saad Baig (wicketkeeper), Salman Ali Agha, Sameer Minhas, Saud Shakeel
