Pakistan cricketer Fakhar Zaman feels Shamyl Hussain is a rare talent as he has seen very few players who have such aggression and command when batting in four-day cricket.
Hussain made his international debut earlier this year during an ODI series against Bangladesh in March.
To date, the 22-year-old has featured in 26 first-class matches and scored 2,019 runs, which includes six centuries and nine fifties, at an average of 45.88 and a strike-rate of 77.17.
Given the potential he has shown so far, Zaman reckons Hussain can have a long and prosperous career with the Pakistan team.
“Abdullah Fazal and Sameer Minhas are good young batters, but the young player I personally like the most is Shamyl Hussain. I’ve seen very few players in Pakistan’s four-day cricket who can bat aggressively with such command. This boy has the ability to represent the country for a long time,” he was quoted as saying on X.
Hussain was not selected for Pakistan’s recent three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, which the men in green won 2-1.
He also failed to make the cut for the ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and England, which will be held from October 18 to 31 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
