Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has admitted that he does not currently deserve a place in the T20I team.
Rizwan, who last played T20I cricket in December 2024, said his recent performances have not been good enough to justify selection.
Rizwan’s last T20 assignment came earlier this year when he captained Rawalpindiz in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In the 10 matches he played, he accumulated 204 runs at an average of 20.40 and a strike-rate of 116.57.
“I don’t deserve a place in [the] Pakistan T20I team,” he was quoted as saying on Facebook.
Rizwan recently featured in Pakistan’s three-Test series against England, but wasn’t at his best once again and even got sent home midway through the tour along with six other players.
Overall, the 34-year-old from Peshawar finished with 61 runs at an average of 15.25.
Rizwan was not included in Pakistan’s team for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, which they won 2-1.
He was also ignored for the ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and England, which will be held from October 18 to 31 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
