Pakistan batsman Kamran Ghulam believes he deserved more opportunities at the international level, citing his consistent performances in domestic cricket.
Ghulam made his Test debut in October 2024 and immediately turned heads with a superb 118 against England in Multan, suggesting a bright future ahead.
Since that innings, he has featured in six Tests, scoring 312 runs at an average of 28.36.
He has also played 11 ODIs, amassing 210 runs, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 30.
Despite showing flashes of brilliance, Ghulam has not played international cricket since February 2025.
With first-class, List A, and T20 averages of 45.33, 41.01, and 33.47 respectively, the 30-year-old is frustrated at not being given more chances to represent Pakistan and prove himself.
“I feel I haven’t been given the chances I should have been given. I have performed in every format. I am playing domestic cricket continuously – just pick up the record and see for yourself. The consistent performances are there,” he told Geo News.
“In modern-day cricket, the better your strike-rate, the better it is for the team. But there is always a need in the playing XI for a player who can build an innings.
“My performance has been good not only in red-ball cricket but also in white-ball cricket. Wherever I have been given a chance, I have performed.
“Cricket has advanced. The demand of modern-day cricket is that you have many shots – batters should know every kind of shot. That will serve them well going forward.”
Ghulam was not picked for Pakistan’s recent three-Test series against England, where the men in green were crushed 3-0.
