Pakistan middle order batsman Saud Shakeel said he sees a lot of potential in youngster Shamyl Hussain.
Shakeel played with Hussain while captaining the Quetta Gladiators in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In the tournament, the 21-year-old scored 215 runs in nine matches, which included three fifties, at an average of 23.88 and a strike-rate of 146.25.
Soon after, he got the chance to make his international debut during Pakistan’s ODI series against Bangladesh, but only struck 10 runs in two games at an average of five.
Despite the underwhelming start, Shakeel remains convinced that the Islamabad native has a bright future in the game.
“I am seeing a lot of potential in Shamyl Hussain,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
Shakeel recently played in Pakistan’s three-Test series against England, which the men in green lost 3-0, and accumulated 204 runs, which included a top score of 97, at an average of 34.
