Pakistan top order batsman Sahibzada Farhan has made it clear that he refuses to throw his wicket away at 50 or 60 runs.

He noted that he wants to convert his strong starts into big hundreds, just as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have done consistently throughout their careers.

Farhan, who has two T20I centuries and 10 fifties to his name, knows that to regularly reach triple figures, he must remain calm at the crease and maintain focus – particularly when it comes to his shot selection.

“When I get to 50 or 60, I try not to throw my wicket away. If you look at players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, they score big hundreds consistently because they know how to spend time at the crease,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.

“It’s about controlling your body and your shot selection, even when you’re timing the ball well. You have to stay calm and maintain control through the 70s and 80s; even if the ball is coming nicely onto the bat, you need to stay focused to carry the innings forward.”

Farhan was not picked for Pakistan’s recent three-Test series against England, where Azam captained the side and Rizwan was part of the squad as well.

Azam missed the 1st Test with a finger injury, but went on to feature in the next two games and amassed 97 runs, which included a top score of 76, at an average of 24.25.

As for Rizwan, he took part in the first two Tests, scoring 61 runs at an average of 15.25, before being among the seven players sent home ahead of the 3rd Test in Birmingham.

Pakistan ended up losing the series 3-0.
