Australia fast bowler Peter Siddle has revealed that Pakistan seamer Haris Rauf started calling him chacha, which means uncle in Urdu, during their time together in the Big Bash League (BBL).
Both Rauf and Siddle represented the Melbourne Stars in the tournament, where Rauf finished as the highest wicket-taker with 20 scalps in 11 matches at an average of 16.75.
Siddle, 41, was not far behind, claiming 16 wickets in 11 games at an average of 17.
Rauf and Siddle also played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), but not for the same team.
Rauf was in action for the Lahore Qalandars and picked up 12 wickets in nine matches at an average of 24.08, while Siddle played for the Multan Sultans and finished with 13 wickets in 11 games at an average of 27.30.
“Haris Rauf told me the meaning of chacha during [the] Big Bash and started calling me chacha as well,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X.
Rauf was not selected for Pakistan’s recent two-Test series against the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
He also did not feature in the three-Test series against England, where the men in green were crushed 3-0.
