England all-rounder Moeen Ali thinks Pakistan star Usman Tariq is a “world-class spinner”.

Tariq has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence, thanks to his distinctive bowling action and knack for picking up wickets.

The 28-year-old recently featured for the Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, taking six wickets in seven matches at an average of 26.83 and an economy rate of 7.15.

He is currently representing the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), where he has snapped up 10 wickets in nine games at an average of 21.30 and an economy rate of 6.26.

“Usman Tariq is a world-class spinner,” Moeen was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X.

Tariq has yet to make his Test debut and thus wasn’t picked for the two-Test series against the West Indies, which ended as a 1-1 draw, and the ongoing three-Test series against England.

The men in green have already lost the series 2-0, but will be aiming to claim a consolation win in the 3rd Test in Birmingham.
