Maaz Sadaqat: “Mohammad Rizwan has been my role model since beginning of my cricket career”

Pakistan all-rounder Maaz Sadaqat has revealed that wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has been his role model since the start of his cricketing journey.

Sadaqat made his international debut in March this year and has since gone on to feature in six ODIs, where he has scored 134 runs, which includes a top score of 75, at an average of 22.33.

He has also taken three wickets at an average of 13.

“Mohammad Rizwan has been my role model since beginning of my cricket career,” Sadaqat, who hails from Peshawar just like Rizwan, was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X.

Sadaqat was not selected for Pakistan’s two-Test series against the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, which concluded as a 1-1 draw.

He also didn’t make the cut for the ongoing three-Test series against England, where the men in green trail 2-0 going into the 3rd Test on September 9 in Birmingham.

Rizwan was part of the team for the first two Tests and made scores of 12, 41, 7 and 1.

Following the 2nd Test at Lord’s, he was among the seven players sent home and replaced by seven others, including five who haven’t played Test cricket before.

Pakistan also sacked red-ball head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul, replacing them with white-ball head coach Mike Hesson and bowling coach Ashley Noffke.
