Legendary fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has said he will offer “free advice” to players who need it but will never work for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The PCB has undergone multiple changes in leadership over the past few years, while several former cricketers have criticised the board for failing to do enough to improve the national team’s fortunes.
Akhtar, who still holds the record for the fastest delivery in international cricket at 161.3 kph, is regarded as one of the most fearsome fast bowlers Pakistan has ever produced. He has repeatedly expressed his willingness to help Pakistan cricket and ensure that players meet the demands of the modern game.
“I’ll give free advice, but I’ll never work for the Pakistan Cricket Board,” the Rawalpindi Express was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X.
Pakistan recently faced the West Indies in a two-Test series in Trinidad and Tobago, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
They are now taking on England in a three-Test series and were thrashed by an inning and 103 runs in the 1st Test at Headingley in Leeds.
The 2nd Test will be begin on August 27 at Lord’s.
