Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez said he still sees a place for Babar Azam in the T20I side if he improves his batting and strike-rate.

Azam has been batting at number four recently, but Hafeez noted that he should instead be playing as an opener or at number three.

“There is still a place for Babar Azam in the national T20 squad, but Babar should bat as an opener or at number three; Babar Azam needs to improve his batting, especially his strike-rate,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X.

Azam recently captained Pakistan in their two-Test series against the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, where he amassed 193 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 96.50.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a tour of England, where they will play three Tests from August 19 to September 13.
