Mohammad Hafeez: “Shaheen Afridi should be appointed as T20 captain, because Shaheen also deserves a place in the T20 squad”

Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez believes left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi should be reappointed as T20I captain.
Afridi, who is Pakistan’s ODI captain right now, was previously handed the role in November 2023 but held it for just a few months, leading the men in green in only one series.
With current T20I skipper Salman Ali Agha under immense pressure due to the national team’s subpar performances, Hafeez feels that Afridi is the right man to replace him.
“Shaheen Afridi should be appointed as T20 captain, because Shaheen also deserves a place in the T20 squad,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X.
Afridi was dropped from Pakistan’s Test team for the recent two-match series against the West Indies, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
He also failed to make the cut for the upcoming three-match Test series against England, which will take place between August 19 and September 13.
