India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said he is “very excited” about Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha and batsman Tayyab Tahir.
Both players have come leaps and bounds in such a short period of time and Ashwin thinks both of them have shown great potential.
Tahir has represented Pakistan in eight T20Is and scored 123 runs at an average of 20.50 and a strike-rate of 118.26.
He has also featured in 11 ODIs and made 181 runs at an average of 22.62.
As for Salman, he recently played in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh and struck 176 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 44.
Next up was three ODIs against Australia, but Salman faltered with the bat, mustering 28 runs at an average of 9.33.
Nonetheless, Ashwin believes the duo possess significant potential and is eager to see what they can achieve going forward.
“I am very excited about two players: Tayyab Tahir and Agha Salman,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel as quoted by A Sports.
Pakistan’s next assignment is a two-Test series against the West Indies, with the matches taking place in Trinidad and Tobago from July 25 to August 6.
After that, the men in green will travel to England to play three Tests from August 19 to September 13.
