Australia spinner Adam Zampa has praised Pakistan opener Saim Ayub, describing him as “a very good player”.

Ayub has showcased his batting firepower on several occasions and is beginning to make a greater impact with the ball as well, picking up wickets with his spin.

The 24-year-old’s most recent outing came in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he scored 258 runs in 13 matches for the Hyderabad Kingsmen, which included a top score of 54, at an average of 21.50 and a strike-rate of 119.44.

He also claimed six wickets at an average of 55.16 and an economy rate of 8.27.

Although Ayub did not enjoy the most productive PSL campaign, Zampa – who represented Karachi Kings – acknowledged the youngster’s potential.

“He’s a very good player,” he was quoted as saying on X.

Following PSL 11, Pakistan lost 2-0 to Bangladesh in a Test series before bouncing back to take down Australia 2-1 in an ODI series.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a two-Test series against the West Indies, which will be held in Trinidad and Tobago from July 25 to August 6.
