Aaqib Javed: “Shaheen Afridi is fit and [the] number one bowler [in the] Pakistan cricket team”

Pakistan Director of High-Performance Aaqib Javed believes ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi is the best bowler in the national team.
Afridi has long been the spearhead of Pakistan’s pace attack and is widely regarded for his ability to strike early with the new ball, particularly in the opening over.
Despite the emergence of new talent, Aaqib maintains that the 26-year-old still deserves to be considered the team’s premier bowler at present.
“Shaheen Afridi is fit and [the] number one bowler [in the] Pakistan cricket team,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X.
Afridi was recently involved in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, but only featured in one match, where he took five wickets at an average of 33.40.
He then led the men in green in their three-match ODI series against Australia and finished with seven wickets at an average of 12.14.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a tour of the West Indies, which will comprise two Tests in Trinidad and Tobago from July 25 to August 6.
