Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi believes that Shaheen Shah Afridi is “a bigger match-winner” than fellow left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir.
Both Shaheen and Amir have produced numerous match-winning performances for Pakistan over the course of their careers.
Shaheen has earned a reputation as one of the world’s leading new-ball bowlers, consistently striking in the opening over of an innings.
Amir, meanwhile, has been in impressive form across various domestic T20 leagues, making him one of the most dangerous T20 bowlers in the game.
That said, Shahid’s choice might not come as a surprise to many people as it is worth noting that he is Shaheen’s father-in-law.
“Shaheen Afridi is a bigger match-winner than Mohammad Amir,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel.
Both Shaheen and Amir recently took part in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), with the former captaining the Lahore Qalandars and claiming 16 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 18.18 and an economy rate of 7.86.
As for Amir, he finished with 12 wickets in 10 games for Rawalpindiz at an average of 27.16 and an economy rate of 8.81.
Shaheen is now part of Pakistan’s team for the ongoing two-Test series against Bangladesh, where the men in green find themselves 1-0 down.
In the 1st Test in Mirpur, Shaheen snapped up five wickets in total.
He is not playing the 2nd Test, which started on May 16 in Sylhet.
