Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his desire to see Bangladesh speedster Taskin Ahmed break his record for the fastest ball ever bowled at 161.3 kph (100.2 mph).

Akhtar, who is a big admirer of Taskin, said he likes what he has seen from the 31-year-old so far.

In addition to Taskin, the Rawalpindi Express also believes that 23-year-old Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana is another exciting prospect for the future.

“I want Taskin [Ahmed] to break my speed record. I have so far seen that in Taskin. And he is looking very good, he is looking sharp, he’s looking focused. And so is Nahid Rana,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Pakistan and Bangladesh recently faced each other in a three-match ODI series in Mirpur, with the men in green lost 2-1.

Many of Pakistan’s national players are now taking part in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is being held in Lahore and Karachi.
