Legendary Pakistan six-hitter Shahid Afridi said he always knew that big-hitting opener Rohit Sharma would go on to play for India.
Afridi recalled being highly impressed with Rohit’s batting when he watched him during training sessions for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Afridi added that he is pleased his prediction proved accurate, as Rohit has since enjoyed a glittering career with the Indian national team and even captained the side.
“During Deccan Chargers practice sessions, I watched him bat and his class impressed me. I knew one day Rohit would play for India – and he has proved himself as a classy batter,” he was quoted as saying on Facebook.
The Pakistan team recently played a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in Mirpur, which they lost 2-1.
Many of the national players are now involved in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is taking place in Karachi and Lahore.
