Pakistan batsman Babar Azam said he tries “not to experiment too much” when batting as he wants to keep things simple in order to focus on scoring runs.

Azam’s comments come at a time when many people have called on him to change his game, especially in T20Is, where he has been criticised for batting too slow.

However, the 31-year-old doesn’t seem intent on making any major adjustments as he is seemingly happy with the way he currently bats.

“I try not to experiment too much with my batting,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Azam was recently in action in Pakistan’s home series against South Africa and started off with 131 runs in two Tests, which included a top score of 50, at an average of 32.75.

He then proceeded to make 79 runs in three T20Is, which included a top score of 68, at an average of 39.50 and a strike-rate of 117.91.

In regards to the three-match ODI series, the Lahore native mustered 45 runs at an average of 15.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be three ODIs against Sri Lanka from November 11 to 15.

This will be followed by a T20I tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe between November 17 and 29.
