Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha has admitted that he can rely on spin-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz to deliver in tough situations.
His comments follow Nawaz’s impressive return to international cricket, during which he has made significant contributions with both bat and ball.
In the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, Nawaz took 10 wickets, which included a career-best five-wicket haul, at an average of 11.70 and an economy rate of 6.88.
He also had an impact with the bat, scoring 120 runs at an average of 30 and a strike-rate of 133.33.
“For me, he’s the guy I can rely on in tough situations,” Salman was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Pakistan are now taking part in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is being held in the UAE.
In six matches, Nawaz has picked up two wickets at an average of 40.50 and an economy rate of 7.36.
He has fared better with the bat, amassing 107 runs at an average of 21.40 and a strike-rate of 144.59.
Pakistan defeated Oman and the UAE in the group stage, but lost to India as well.
They fell to their arch-rivals again in the Super Four, but bounced back with victories over Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, which led to them advancing to the final.
Pakistan will face India in the Asia Cup final on September 28 in Dubai.
