Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has called on people to throw their support behind wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris.

Haris has been criticised for being an inconsistent run-scorer, but Razzaq emphasised that all the other players in the team don’t perform every game as well.

During Pakistan’s T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, the 24-year-old mustered 33 runs in five games at an average of 6.60 and a strike-rate of 84.61.

While more is definitely expected from Haris, Razzaq insisted that the Peshawar native will gain confidence if he knows the fans are backing him.

“Not all eleven players in a team perform at once, but we must give confidence to Haris,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Haris is now representing Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is being played in the UAE.

So far, he has accumulated 131 runs in six matches, which includes a top score of 66, at an average of 26.20 and a strike-rate of 136.45.

The men in green beat Oman and the UAE in the group stage, but also lost to India.

They were defeated by India again in the Super Four, but booked their spot in the final after claiming wins over Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The Asia Cup final between India and Pakistan will take place on September 28 in Dubai.
