Pakistan left-arm pace bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is looking forward to facing Australia opening batsman David Warner again and getting him out.
Afridi and Warner have a friendly rivalry that stretches back to when Warner used to play international cricket.
The duo have had plenty of light-hearted moments on the pitch and with Afridi having been selected first by the Brisbane Heat in the draft for this year’s Big Bash League (BBL), the 25-year-old can’t wait to go head to head against Warner once again.
“[It] will be more… good when I take his wicket again,” he said in a video uploaded by the BBL.
Afridi was recently in action in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he captained the Lahore Qalandars and dominated with the ball, finishing as the highest wicket-taker with 19 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 16.42 and an economy rate of 7.76.
Even though he topped the wicket-taking chart, he was not selected for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore.
The selectors also ignored him for the tour of Bangladesh, where Pakistan lost the T20I series 2-1.
Pakistan then took on the West Indies and Afridi returned for the T20I series, claiming two wickets in two matches at an average of 29 and an economy rate of 7.25.
As for the three-match ODI series, he snapped up four wickets in two games at an average of 21.50.
The men in green are now involved in a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will end on September 7.
In three matches, Afridi has picked up three wickets at an average of 23.66 and an economy rate of 5.91.
After the T20I tri-series, Pakistan will take part in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
