Pakistan rising star Khawaja Nafay said he worked on his power-hitting with iconic all-rounder Abdul Razzaq during the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) skill development camp.

In addition to honing his big-hitting skills, Nafay also noted he is improving his batting against spin bowling.

Despite being made to get up at 4.30am, the 23-year-old conceded that the camp was beneficial for him as it greatly developed his overall game.

“We wake up at 4.30 am and our session begins at 6 am. We have been learning a lot from Abdul Razzaq regarding power-hitting, and playing spinners has enhanced our skill set,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

“The skills camp has brought significant improvement. I’m working on power-hitting with Abdul Razzaq and also practicing extensively against spinners.”

Nafay was recently in action for the Quetta Gladiators in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and scored 52 runs in two matches, which included a top score of 51, at an average of 26 and a strike-rate of 173.33.

Despite showing promise, he was not selected for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the T20I tour of Bangladesh, and the limited overs tour of the West Indies.

Pakistan are now playing a T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah, which will conclude on September 7.

After that, the men in green will be involved in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
