Pakistan left-arm spinner Imad Wasim has advised wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan to “lose a bit” of weight, but insisted he is not talking about 30 to 40 kg.

Azam is one of the many promising power-hitters Pakistan have, but he has consistently been criticised for being overweight.

While many have urged the 27-year-old to shed a lot of pounds, Imad feels just a little bit will do.

“We spoke about it, it was me and Azam sitting and talking about cricket he loved it there were things that what I advised him to sort it out you need to lose not 40 kgs or 30 kgs you just need to lose a bit,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

During the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Azam failed to have much of an impact as he mustered 66 runs in seven matches for Islamabad United at an average of 11 and a strike-rate of 101.53.

After PSL 10, he wasn’t picked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore.

He also missed out on the tour of Bangladesh, which consisted of three T20Is.

Pakistan are now in the West Indies and began their campaign with a 2-1 victory in the T20I series.

The three-match ODI series is currently going on, with both teams having won one game heading into the 3rd ODI on August 12 in Trinidad.
