Pakistan big-hitting batsman Sahibzada Farhan revealed Fakhar Zaman told him that he had “so much potential”.
He recalled going to Zaman for advice and was told to keep batting the same way as he was scoring plenty of runs.
Farhan is thankful for the support he received from the 35-year-old as it boost his confidence and helped him maintain his red-hot form.
“I always approach Fakhar Zaman for advice. When I met him in the last PSL, he told me to continue playing the way I played in domestic cricket. He said, ‘You have so much potential.’ This improved my confidence and I scored a century in the next game,” he said during the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Eid al-Adha 2025 show as quoted by ARY News.
In the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Farhan was on fire and finished as the highest run-scorer with 449 runs in 12 matches for Islamabad United, which included a hundred and three half-centuries, at an average of 37.41 and a strike-rate of 152.20.
The 29-year-old continued to shine in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh as he smashed 75 runs in two games, which included a career-best knock of 74, at an average of 37.50 and a strike-rate of 166.66.
Farhan, who hails from Charsadda, didn’t stop scoring when Pakistan toured Bangladesh for three T20Is as he walloped 63 runs in the one match he played.
As for the ongoing tour of the West Indies, he continued to put up solid numbers, finishing with 91 runs in three T20Is, which included a top score of 74, at an average of 30.33 and a strike-rate of 126.38.
Pakistan and the West Indies are now playing a three-match ODI series, which is tied at 1-1 heading into the 3rd ODI on August 12 in Trinidad.
