Mehran Mumtaz: “Even after facing criticism, he’s so calm and composed. Truly impressive”

Pakistan left-arm spinner Mehran Mumtaz has praised batsman Babar Azam for remaining “so calm and composed” despite facing so much criticism.
Mumtaz added it is “truly impressive” how Azam can keep his cool in such situations.
The 30-year-old has been going through a rough patch for many months, but has shown signs of progress as of late.
During the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Azam captained the Peshawar Zalmi and made 288 runs in 10 matches, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
Even though he did well in PSL 10, it was not enough to convince the selectors to pick him for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which Pakistan won 3-0.
The Lahore native also failed to make the cut for the tour of Bangladesh, where the men in green succumbed to a 2-1 defeat in the T20I series.
“Even after facing criticism, he’s so calm and composed. Truly impressive,” Mumtaz was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan are currently touring the West Indies and won the T20I series 2-1 despite Azam not being part of the team.
However, he is playing in the ongoing three-match ODI series and has scored 47 runs in two games at an average of 23.50.
The series is tied at 1-1 going into the 3rd ODI on August 12 in Trinidad.
