Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has called Hasan Nawaz a “smart batter” as he plays for the team while also being able to have an individual impact.

Hasan is a newcomer to the national team, but has already made a splash in T20Is as he smashed a career-best 105 not out in just his third match.

The 22-year-old continued to show why he is such a dangerous power-hitter during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he was the third-highest run-scorer with 399 runs in 12 matches for the Quetta Gladiators, which included a hundred and three half-centuries, at an average of 57 and a strike-rate of 162.19.

“That is the hallmark of a smart batter – playing for the team while sustaining personal momentum,” Ramiz was quoted as saying by A Sports.

After PSL 10 finished, Hasan took part in Pakistan’s T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and made 121 runs at an average of 60.50 and a strike-rate of 198.36.

The Islamabad-born batsman then travelled to Bangladesh with the Pakistan team and mustered 33 runs in three T20Is at an average of 11 and a strike-rate of 122.22.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a tour of the West Indies, where they will play three T20Is and three ODIs from August 1 to 12.

Hasan was picked in both squads, suggesting that an ODI debut could be imminent.
