Pakistan batsman Iftikhar Ahmed has put forth the idea of creating a six-month schedule to develop players’ power-hitting skills.
He noted that this will provide enough time to “see significant improvements” and unveil which cricketers are good enough to take on the role of a big-hitter.
“We should create a schedule for at least six months dedicated to developing the power-hitting skills of players. This way, we can see significant improvements at the next level,” the 34-year-old, who used to be Pakistan’s first-choice power-hitter, was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Iftikhar recently featured in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he scored 98 runs in eight matches for the Multan Sultans at an average of 19.60 and a strike-rate of 124.05.
Following PSL 10, Pakistan beat Bangladesh 3-0 in a T20I series in Lahore, but Iftikhar was not included in the squad.
He also missed out on Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh, where the men in green lost the T20I series 2-1.
Next up for Pakistan will be a tour of the West Indies, where they will play three T20Is and three ODIs from August 1 to 12.
