Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi has announced that he has no intention of becoming an all-rounder.

Afridi is renowned for being an exceptional fast bowler, especially with the new ball as he has a habit of taking early wickets.

The 25-year-old’s batting abilities have also garnered plenty of attention as he is capable of unleashing a wide range of powerful shots that allow him to score quick runs.

That said, Afridi insisted bowling will remain his top priority.

“I don’t have any… intention of being an all-rounder. My job is to bowl and then bat,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Afridi recently represented Pakistan in a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, but only managed to take two wickets in four games at an average of 66.50 and an economy rate of 10.23.

He performed significantly better in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he captained the Lahore Qalandars to the title.

Afridi ended PSL 10 as the highest wicket-taker with 19 wickets in 13 games at an average of 16.42 and an economy rate of 7.76.

Despite finding form in the tournament, Afridi was not picked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which the men in green won 3-0.
