Former Pakistan assistant coach Tim Nielsen recalled how “the phone goes nuts” when batsman Babar Azam scored a century or gets out.
Azam has long been Pakistan’s golden boy and the player who garners significant attention.
Lately, his performances have been quite turbulent, but he has shown progress in regaining his form.
During the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, the 30-year-old amassed 129 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.
Azam then captained the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and accumulated 288 runs in 10 matches, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
“If Babar gets out, the phone goes nuts. Babar scores a hundred, the phone goes nuts,” Nielsen was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.
After PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Azam was not included in the team,
The men in green won the series 3-0.
