Ramiz Raja: “The whole nation goes after Babar Azam on social media when he doesn’t score runs”

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja said the entire country goes after batsman Babar Azam on social media when he fails to score runs.
Azam has long been Pakistan’s most consistent batsman in all three formats and is expected to do well every time.
However, the 30-year-old has been going through a rough patch for a prolonged period of time, which has led to him being heavily criticised.
Recently, the Lahore native has shown signs of finding his form again as he made 129 runs in three ODIs against New Zealand, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.
Azam then captained the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and finished with 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
“The whole nation goes after Babar Azam on social media when he doesn’t score runs,” Ramiz was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Once PSL 10 concluded, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Azam was not part of the squad.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
