Pakistan left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir has revealed that he spent more money than he earned when he came out of retirement to represent his country in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Amir noted that he travelled with his trainer and had to bear all the costs associated with it.

That said, he did very well with the ball in the T20 World Cup as he claimed seven wickets in four matches at an average of 10.28 and an economy rate of 4.50.

“I came to play the World Cup after leaving my county deal. Honestly, I ended up spending more money than I made. I travelled with my trainer, and all those expenses came out of my own pocket. But that’s a different matter,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Amir, who retired from international cricket once again after playing in the T20 World Cup, was recently involved in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and picked up 13 wickets in nine games for the Quetta Gladiators at an average of 18.07 and an economy rate of 7.79.

Following PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series and ended up winning 3-0.
