Mohammad Amir: “He’s going through a rough patch, and it’s lasted a bit too long. I’ve noticed he’s been late on the ball lately, which is affecting his shot selection”

Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir admitted that batsman Babar Azam’s rough patch has “lasted a bit too long”.
Azam has not been able to score runs regularly, which has hurt the men in green as he has historically been one of their most dependable batsmen.
Amir noted that he has spotted a flaw in Azam’s batting, specifically regarding playing the ball too late, which he feels is “affecting his shot selection”.
“He’s going through a rough patch, and it’s lasted a bit too long. I’ve noticed he’s been late on the ball lately, which is affecting his shot selection,” Amir was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Recently, Azam was in action in Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand and struck 129 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.
Afterwards, he was involved in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he captained the Peshawar Zalmi.
In 10 matches, the 30-year-old amassed 288 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
Following PSL 10, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Azam was not included in the team.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
